Steven Douglas Curnutte
, bornOctober 21,1967 inCharleston, West Virginia is an American songwriter and artist from the 1990's turnedentrepreneur. Following graduation fromWake Forest University in 1991, Curnutte released 11 independent records and toured nationally along the college circuit before signing toCapitol Records in Los Angeles. Curnutte was part of the cultural trend towardsacoustic guitar andsinger songwriter music following the grunge rock explosion of the early 90's. Accolades and accomplishments include winner of the New Folk Finalist Award at the storiedKerrville Folk Festival in Kerrville, Texas, writer of top 20 songs for other artists such as the song Nickajack for The River Road Band, and writer of songs for major movies such as the song Dilated Eyes for theBill Pullman movie 'The Guilty.' He was a performer on the famous radio programMountain Stage. Curnutte was also part of theDo It Yourself (DIY) trend of the mid 90's that was fueled by the emergence of the Internet. He founded Yatata Publishing and Marengo Records and later sold them toward the end of the decade.

Since the end of the 1990's, Curnutte founded and sold a financial services company, mortgage company, and title company in Tennessee and has become embedded in the entrepreneurial start up scene of the region. He has served as local President of the world wide
Entrepreneurs' Organization (2006), spoken on the topic of the recent credit crisis atVanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management, provided expert witness services in area of investment property lending, and maintained an economics blog atEconomics Blog. He currently ownsFinworth Mortgage, a residential lender operating in Tennessee and Florida. He also owns and operatesFinworth Commercial which specializes in commercial andSBA lending nationwide.
